Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Driller to operate drilling equipment, supervise the drilling crew, monitor downhole conditions, and ensure that all drilling and well-control activities are completed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
• Follow all instructions issued by the Toolpusher, Drilling Supervisor, and responsible Engineer.
• Supervise the drilling crew and ensure compliance with safety systems, SOPs, and approved work procedures.
• Operate the brake handle, top drive, control switches, driller’s console, and automatic drilling system.
• Coordinate drilling, wellhead, and rig-floor operations safely and efficiently.
• Operate and monitor rig-floor well-control equipment.
• Inspect and maintain drilling equipment, instruments, and tools to ensure proper functioning.
• Monitor downhole conditions, drill-string configuration, drilling-tool performance, and operational parameters.
• Immediately report abnormal or complicated conditions to the Toolpusher and Drilling Supervisor.
• Lead pre-job and post-job meetings, assign crew duties, review completed work, and report equipment, operational, or personnel issues.
• Ensure the safe operation of all control equipment inside the driller’s cabin.
• Supervise the maintenance of derrick sheaves and pulleys and the inspection of drilling lines.
• Complete post-tour inspections, report defects, follow up corrective actions, and maintain accurate inspection records.
• Accurately record instrument readings, drilling parameters, fill-up volumes, and pumping information.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Toolpusher.
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum 10 years of drilling experience, including experience as a Driller.
• Technical diploma or relevant vocational qualification is preferred.
• Valid IWCF or IADC well-control certification is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of drilling operations, drilling equipment, downhole conditions, and well-control systems.
• Proven ability to operate top-drive systems, automatic drillers, and driller’s control consoles.
• Strong leadership, crew supervision, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of drilling-site HSE requirements and emergency procedures.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule at field locations in Basra.
