Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Toolpusher to lead the drilling shift, supervise rig personnel, coordinate drilling and third-party activities, and ensure all operations comply with approved procedures, safety requirements, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and organize shift personnel to comply with company rules, regulations, SOPs, and approved work procedures.
• Implement HSE systems and safety measures and organize inspections and emergency drills as instructed by the Rig Manager.
• Participate in rig-move coordination meetings and supervise rig-down, rig-moving, and rig-up activities.
• Ensure rig-moving and rig-down activities comply with environmental protection requirements.
• Organize equipment maintenance and ensure all equipment is correctly operated and maintained in good condition.
• Supervise and inspect the daily performance of all personnel assigned to the shift.
• Address poor performance, unsafe behaviour, disciplinary violations, and failure to follow instructions according to company procedures.
• Ensure the proper operation, inspection, and maintenance of rig-floor equipment, instruments, and inclinometers.
• Accurately record operational problems, corrective actions, and completed activities in the shift-handover report.
• Coordinate third-party personnel, contractors, and service providers during rig operations.
• Conduct daily inspections according to the post-tour checklist and verify that all shift personnel complete their required inspections.
• Supervise rig-up and rig-down activities for special operations.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Rig Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum 10 years of drilling experience, including experience as a Toolpusher.
• Technical diploma or relevant qualification in drilling or a related field is preferred.
• Valid IWCF or IADC well-control certification is required.
• Strong knowledge of drilling operations, rig moves, rig-floor equipment, maintenance, and well-control systems.
• Proven leadership, crew supervision, coordination, and decision-making skills.
• Strong understanding of HSE requirements and emergency response procedures.
• Effective communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule at field locations in Basra.
