Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Drilling Engineer to provide technical support for drilling operations, maintain accurate engineering records, prepare operational reports, and coordinate with client representatives, rig personnel, and third-party service providers.
Key Responsibilities
• Accurately communicate the client’s instructions and technical requirements to the drilling crew.
• Collect, review, prepare, and submit daily drilling reports.
• Maintain engineering and operational data and prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports.
• Manage, measure, inspect, and record drilling tools, casing, and related equipment.
• Ensure compliance with the approved drilling-tool management system.
• Provide technical clarification during pre-job meetings and maintain accurate meeting records.
• Organize and inspect fishing tools, special tools, and equipment required for special operations.
• Prepare diagrams and technical drawings for fishing assemblies and special tools.
• Monitor critical drilling activities and special operations at the wellsite.
• Provide technical guidance to the drilling crew and support safe execution of operations.
• Promptly report operational conditions, technical problems, and abnormal situations to the Rig Manager.
• Assist the Rig Manager and Camp Boss in coordinating accommodation for client and third-party personnel.
• Collect, verify, and submit monthly time-utilization and accommodation-cost reports.
• Coordinate third-party vehicles and logistics during rig-moving activities.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Rig Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum 10 years of relevant drilling experience, including experience as a Drilling Engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in drilling, petroleum, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of drilling operations, drilling tools, casing, fishing operations, and special operations.
• Ability to prepare and review daily drilling and technical reports.
• Ability to interpret drilling programs, well data, technical drawings, and operational procedures.
• Strong technical reporting, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Good knowledge of drilling-site HSE requirements and well-control principles.
• Proficiency in relevant drilling and reporting software.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule at field locations in Basra.
