Senior Accountant – Al Samawa, Iraq

Job opportunity 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Al Samawa, Iraq. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, inventory management, and treasury activities while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting operations and general ledger activities.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

Monitor and control costs, analyze variances, and support cost optimization initiatives.

Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.

Perform inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, and inventory valuation reviews.

Manage cash flow activities and conduct regular cash reconciliations.

Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

Support external audits and coordinate with auditors.

Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Professional qualifications are highly preferred, such as:

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

Chartered Accountant (CA)

Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, trading, or industrial sectors.

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, costing, inventory control, and reconciliation procedures.

Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
